The second COLORE “Countryside and Landscape Opportunities for Renewable Energies” meeting took place in Alto Jarama Atazar, Madrid Region, and it was held along April 23rd and 24TH . The participants were from Rieti Province, Ragusa Province, DipSU Rome, Alto Jarama Spain, Novi Ligure and Diadyma.
On Monday 23th of April Mancomunidad Alto Jarama proposed a Participative Dynamic in which all the partners could have an script to explain the situation of their own G.I.S. as well as their own projects.Every partner has a clear idea about the state of every project as well as the possible use of a geographical tool.
The presentations started with the Spanish partners having Fernando Martin, external consultant from the UAM, as a spokesperson. Mancomunidad Alto Jarama has been preparing the digital map GIS as well as gathering the different information available in Regional Administration. They are working with two different objectives in this project: forestall biomass resources for energetic purposes, preventing forest fires and, on the other hand, managing the cultural heritage as a developmental strategy in the Territory.
The spokesperson of Rieti informed about the method they are using for collecting the information, about the situation of the project and the main difficulties they have found so far. Rieti presented the most significant features of their region, especially the main and the delicate situation of the Tiber river because the growth of industry and urban land: Population and Industry have been taking a place in the surroundings of Rome. That is, in fact, the main problem and the object of this project: To define the most important natural and cultural values in order to improve the actual planification reference and, getting deeper knowledge and keeping alive the traditional architecture including the materials (bio-building).
After this presentation, It was the turn to Nadia Hatzmitraga, representing the Greek partners of COLORE. The main objective and the expected result concerning DIADYMA project and their GIS is to manage of urban remainders and sweepings. The Greek partner is a public enterprise charged by regional government to improve and keep a most efficient work regarding closing and restoring little and old garbage dumps us well to define where to locate new garbage dumps.
Gaia Bollini, representing the Municipality of Novi Ligure exposed their presentation.The goal of NOVI LIGURE partners is to preserve the architecture of crude mud with its typical, traditional and regional build patterns, and is situated in a quite delicate position and considerable risk of disappearing.
Since Ragusa couldn’t attend this second meeting, Dipsu acted as a spokesperson of the Sicilian Partners. The main goal of the project and the application of the GIS for Ragusa partner is to territorial strategically agency, designing and defining different scenes and instruments to manage and preserve traditional landscapes of south east island of Sicilia, where a typical and traditional landscape of agriculture terraces is going to be substituted by pine tree repopulation. Those traditional terraces included corn and other Mediterranean cereals and agricultural territories that would need to be preserved. The territorial analysis concerned to the university level, but the Regional administration is the responsible of the strategic development plan.
After finishing the presentations the working project plan for the next months as well as financial matter related to the Colore project is proposed by Dipsu.
The morning of the 24th April was an “open session” aimed to a double objective. In one hand to exchange experiences between agents of Sierra Norte’s Territory with the partners as far as methodological tools, similar concerns, future international projects partnerships in development issues. On the other hand, this open session was the via to disseminate the main goals, the ideological structure as well as to share the COLORE project with the rest of the authorities, the mass media and social agents based in Alto Jarama’s territory.
The session started with the President of the Mancomunity, Jose Manuel Herrero, opening and introducing the rest of the participants. Among them, Margarita Ruiz Celá, representative at the RFO Pregresdec in Comunidad de Madrid Region, exposed a brief presentation about INTERREG IIIC and afterward the Lead Partner explained about the COLORE project.
