SSTILE - 2nd MEETING Town Hall of the Municipal Authority of Mouriki, (Western Macedonia), 27th April 2007

The second meeting of the SSTILE sub-project took place on April 27th in the Town Hall of the Municipal Authority of Mouriki, Prefecture of Kozani (Western Macedonia, Greece). The meeting was hosted by the same Municipality of Mouriki, represented by the Mayor, Mrs. Paraskevi Vryzidou. Present people included representatives from the public authorities, university departments and private consulting firms involved, on behalf of the Province of Latina (Lead Partner, Italy), the Province of Palermo (Italy), the Municipal Authority of Mouriki (Greece), and the Prefectural Authority of Thessaloniki (Greece). The Province of Vercelli (Italy) was represented by the Department of Urban Studies of the University of Roma Tre (Italy).
The meeting and the interviews to some of the participants were broadcasted on four occasions by three local TV channels, and published on the local web press of the Prefecture of Kozani.

Mr. Pietro Elisei, from the Department of Urban Studies of Rome, made a quick presentation about the Interreg IIIC initiative and purposes; then, the single partners’ presentations started.
The SSTILE sub-project deals with the definition of methodologies for the implementation of the SEA of plans or programmes for territorial infrastructures, taking landscape into special consideration. The issues to be presented during the meeting had been previously agreed among the partners, and regarded the specification of the exact study case for the implementation of the SEA procedure, of the final objectives that each one intended to reach, of the methodology and the kind of databases used or to be used. In particular, these are the themes that the partners are dealing with, and that it were been presented:

  • Mr. Elio Murianni (University of Naples) talked on behalf of the Province of Latina, which focused on the mobility system of its General Provincial Territorial Plan, especially on three of the “Network Units” of its public local transport, with a study of the four “Landscape Ambits” involved;
  • Mr. Flavio Camerata (Department of Urban Studies, Rome), talked on behalf of the Province of Vercelli, which is working on the placement of a new provincial road, the re-qualification of the old one, and the re-use of a dismissed military settlement;
  • Mr. Ignazio Vinci (University of Palermo) talked on behalf of the Province of Palermo: the research issues are the development of transportation links, taking into account natural, landscape and productive resources, and the enhancement of opportunities for local development;
  • Ms. Georgia Anagnostopoulou (Hyetos Consulting Engineering Firm) talked on behalf of the Municipality of Mouriki, which is working on the SEA of a Master Plan for the construction of a number of wastewater plants for the communities of the area;
  • Mr. Giorgos Papadellis (Trek Consulting) talked on behalf of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki, which focused on the projects included in the “Large Scale Infrastructure Plan” of the Prefecture: the finalization of the Egnatia Road, the Thessaloniki Metro Network, the Cross City Underwater Tunnel of Thessaloniki, the enlargement of the Macedonia Airport Runway.
After the presentations, the contents of the second internal report were discussed, and the deadlines for the submissions of each partner’s contributions were defined. This report follows the first one (issued after the first meeting) and will contain an introduction with the state of the art of the implementation of the sub-project, and an overview on the typology of data collected by the single partners: five chapters with every partner’s methodology, objectives, indicators and expected outputs and a conclusion that will take into consideration the overall progress of the sub-project.
