UD&EP - 3rd MEETING Transnational comparative analysis of relationship between Environment and Urban Development systems.

UD&EP Project (Urban Development and Environmental Protection) research the confrontation and look for solutions to overcome the conflicts between Urban Development and Environmental disciplines as in Spain as in the European Union. The analysis of differences and conflictive aspects as well as the alternative means to look for a solution (economic reference, collegiate decisions etc.) have been first carried out in the Comunidad de Madrid, municipalities of Robledo de Chavela, Pelayos de la Presa and Colmenar del Arroyo.
These first stages are focused upon the Spanish urban and environmental system, and more precisely that of Madrid. Results have been presented in several congresses and town-planning meetings, some of them international, and in the conference organized ad hoc by Comunidad de Madrid.

UD&EP Project has now reached the phase of the comparative analysis among Italy (Sicily), Greece (Macedonian) and Holland (Randstad) urban and environmental systems.
The meeting between Madrid and Sicily has taken place in two parts: first in Palermo (regional system) and in Canicattí (municipal system) on March 26 and 27, and the other in Madrid (regional system) and Robledo, Pelayos, Colmenar (municipal system) on April 26 and 27.
Those meetings have served to arrive to a mutual knowledge of both systems and to find suitable solutions to be potentially applied in the administrative environment of each other’s country/region. Such is the case of the “Conference on Services” of Sicily that could be worth for a more accurate study as well as for evaluation as a system to be applied in the Comunidad de Madrid administrative mechanisms.

The next phase of the project will take place in the programmed meetings with Greece (Macedonia) and Holland (Randstad) systems in next June and July respectively.
