About the Operation

By adopting the ESDP, the Members States and the Commission reached an agreement on common objectives and concepts for the future development of the territory of the European Union.

Progresdec operation aims at verifying whether the policies under the European Spatial Development Perspective (ESDP) have been implemented at regional and local level and/or how the local authorities have built and translated into practical tools the guidelines set out in the European document.
The objective is building a “bottom up” territorial management  project employing operative methods with translational comparison and defining an effective way to implement the ESDP programme.

The general aim of the Operation is to promote interregional cooperation between regional and other public authorities across the entire EU territory. It allows regions to work together in common projects and test common methods and instruments for territorial management purposes. The overall objectives consist in improving the effectiveness of regional development policies and instruments through large-scale information exchange and sharing of experience (networks) in a structured way.
